Judy Williams
Project Coordinator, Strengths Research
Judy Williams is a Project Coordinator for Strengths Research at Nova Scotia Community College, Canada's Portfolio College. For the past 18 months, Judy has been doing research and development to deliver the pilot program "A Strengths-Based Approach to Student Development." This program will assist students in recognizing their unique talents.
For the past eight years, Judy's primary role has been with student services as a Disability Resource Facilitator. This role includes assisting students in developing an academic plan that will remove barriers to support students in achieving academic success. This involves academic accommodation meetings with faculty and professional support specialists; mediation between faculty and students; providing staff professional development sessions to better understand students with disabilities and services that will assist in their success; and accommodations that are appropriate in the classroom.
Judy was first introduced to Gallup's strengths philosophy through a professional development program at Nova ScotiaCommunity College. Since that time, she has facilitated many strengths development workshops with staff, faculty, and student leaders across the college's 13 campuses. Judy is an active participant in the development and implementation of the college's Strengths-Based Employee Success Plan. She has been involved in several training sessions with Gallup, including Strengths Advocate and Certificate in Strengths-Based Education. Judy has presented and copresented at several international Chair Academy conferences. Her Signature Themes are Responsibility, Consistency, Maximizer, Empathy, and Positivity.
