Linda Cantwell serves as Director of the Strengths-Based MBA, Associate Professor of Communication, and Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. Linda's interest in strengths development began in 2001 as a doctoral student of Edward C. "Chip" Anderson, Ph.D. Her dissertation, A Comparative Analysis of Strengths-Based Versus Traditional Teaching Methods in a Freshman Public Speaking Course: The Impact on Student Learning and Academic Engagement, showed statistically significant differences in academic engagement, learning outcomes, and retention in a course taught from a strengths-based perspective.
Linda's passion is the innovative integration of a strengths-based perspective into teaching and learning environments, both in undergraduate and graduate courses. She has incorporated strengths philosophy in more than 15 courses as well as freshman orientation.
Linda is the recipient of two Gallup awards: the 2004 Greatest Contribution Student Strengths Impact Award and the 2005 Strengths Builder Award. She serves on the Steering Committee for the Nazarene Strengths Institute.
Linda has had articles published about her work with strengths development. She has led leadership, management, and strengths development seminars for clients in the government sector, higher education, and faith communities. Linda received her bachelor's degree in business administration from MidAmerica Nazarene University; her master's degree in media communication from Webster University; and her doctorate in educational leadership in higher education from Azusa Pacific University.
